Facts

As of December 2009, York Region’s population was estimated at 1,011,000.

In 2006, the average household income for a family in York Region was $89,099, which was one of the highest in Canada.

The very northern part of York Region borders on Lake Simcoe, one of the largest lakes in southern Ontario

In 2006, the southern area of York Region had a greater portion of its population born outside of the country, compared to almost anywhere else in Canada, according to Statistics Canada.
