Newcomer Services

People from around the world are choosing York Region as their new home. Helping newcomers adjust to Canadian society is very important to us. York Region has many organizations and services here to help.

Please contact any of these agencies for more information, they will be happy to help and to welcome you to York Region.

The Welcome Centre has a variety of immigration services all in one centre. Services are provided free of charge. The five agencies that you find at the Welcome Centre are:

There are several other local organizations available to help you get settled in York Region.

  • The Cross Cultural Community Services Association (TCCSA) provides services to the Greater Toronto Area to help newcomers such as settlement services, education and language training, and community and youth services.
  • Jewish Immigrant Aid Services (JIAS) offers a full range of settlement and integration services for new immigrants.
  • JVS Toronto partners with government and business to provide educational and vocational services.
  • Seneca College’s Faculty of Workforce Skills Development offers the Re-employment Services for International Professionals Program (RESIP). This program features employability workshops, individual coaching, job development and mentoring services.
  • YMCA York Region provides information on housing, social services, learning English, employment counseling, finding a job, finding child care and more.
